I never had any interest in this show until recently. I wish I'd not been late to it. It's pretty good.

But my question is this: would you prefer that the House character was English instead of American? This would allow the English actor, Hugh Laurie, who playes House to use his natural accent. His American accent is fine, but I've heard his natural accent; It's very nice.

Oh yes you are right his accent is very nice. I saw him in the movie, Flight of the Phoenix (2004). He was really great in it and I loved his voice. I guess the fake accent works better considering the person he plays. It would not sound as rude in a English accent.

But House is American! There were Americans who auditioned, but the casting people choose Hugh Laurie over them, and I think he does a pretty good job. I believe Chase was originally meant to be English, but they change his nationality to Australian because of actor Jesse Spencer. I really don't think we're going to hear Hugh Laurie's natural voice unless a storyline calls for it (which has happened).

I think his accent is pretty good. I didn't even realize he was British until I saw him in Flight of the Phoenix. The show is awesome. I think its better as an American actor. He has more of a 'cowboy' persona and that, to me, doesn't identify with English culture.

I would rather the American accent because two English people on that show would be too much.

He wouldn't be so accerbic with an English accent, and that annoying smartass yank thing is a major part of the character.

I like the American accent better.

It just wouldn't be the same smartass and sarcastic "House" if he spoke with a british accent.

It would be a little difficult to change now. Maybe he can get some kind of rare disease that causes a British accent.
