No, this is NOT a stupid question. If you use cheap mascara it can maek your eyelashes weak and eventually fall out. Also, if you use one that is really old! Most manufacturers recommend you replace you mascara every month or so, to avoid build up of bacteria, which yes, can rot your lashes. This obviously is not the case for everyone, but it does happen!!

After constant use of mascara the eyelashes become thicker and shorter.. is just like changing the color of ur hair every day.. U can use potions to keep the eyelashes healthy but best of all is the olive oil.. tried and worked.. So the main answer is : yap indeed the mascara bloody destroys ur eye-lashes.

I've been wearing mascara since I was 18 many moons ago (I'm now in my early 30s) and I really heap it on...sometimes 5 coats is a minimum application and my naked lashes are still long and healthy. The mascara just triples their thickness and length. I would say that sounds like an alarmist wives’ or (husband's? LOL) tale told by someone that does not want someone to wear makeup!

NO-That's about the biggest crock of **** I have ever heard. Go for a good quality mascara and do not share it with anyone. Buy new every 3-4 months. Sooner if you have an eye infection. And use a lotion eye make-up remover if your lashes seem dried out-or rub a little petroleum jelly on them 2-3 times a week.

When you use another persons mascara it will rot them because your eyelid bacteria might not agree with someone elses. So don't share your make-up. or if you buy that cheap 99 cent store mascara.

Also mascara may make your lashes a little drier, it does not rot them!
Besides, eye lashes replace themselves regularily so there's no need to worry about damaging them after years of using mascara.

Not to my knowledge. However, some waterproof varieties can dry out your lashes, which can cause them to break off gradually at the ends. You don't really need a waterproof one and plain kinds are probably better for your lashes.

OMG!! What a question, LOL! No, I've been using it for years. I have heard that some does thin your lashes, that's the worst it'll do.
