needed for my friend's 1996 Ford Ranger. Just can't remember to turn off his lghts in the daytime, now that Maine requires 'lights on if wipers are on", and is sick of jumper cables. Would love the type that automatically turns them off 30 secons after you turn off the ignition -- or however the new cars do it. thanks

I used to have the same problem, I drive an old f-150 myself.

Instead of putting in a new fangled auto switch, I just keep a spare battery in my tool box or behind the seat next to the shotgun.

But the cheapest device that I use to remember to turn off my lights is this,...

use a 3x5 piece of cardstock, write in big bold marker "turn off the lights dumbass!" and keep it right on the dashboard with a piece of duct tape.

My truck is an old truck, I don't mind having that reminder in plain sight, and it makes me remember to turn off the lights, I don't care if my friends laugh, its better than having to swap out my battery every time it goes dead coz I did forget to turn them off.
-- But it does work.

Good luck

cheers!!!

There is a buzzer he can buy. It gets power from the headlight wire and grounds through the drivers door switch. If he opens the door with the lights on the buzzer will sound and remind him to turn lights off.

Most good auto parts stores will have one.

Convert the lights to day time running lights. Automatically turns on when the engine is on, turns off when the engine is off.
