I'm not sure and I'm planning to travel 2 Mumbai myself so I'm also doing searches on that .. I think you should learn a little bit of hindi be4 u go 2 mumbai just in case .. I know Hindi & Urdu so I won't have any problems becoz I grew up with these to languages and I am an American born.

I've learned French in high school .. it took me a year or 2 years to actually understand it .. if Hindi isn't ur native language or ur 2nd language then it'll take u a long time to understand.

just in case if u bumb into a hindi speaker, I think u can say
HINDI: mujhe Hindi nahi aa thi, sirf English
PRONOUNCIATION: mej - jhay Hind - dhee naa - he aa thee, searf English
ENGLISH: I don't know Hindi, only English

hope this helps

I'm pretty sure u'll bump into English speakers .. be really careful

You may not need to learn Hindi. If you must then you should learn before going to India. Hindi is just one of the 26 official languages you can use in India. In most big cities you will get by in English. Bombay is just one of them were you will find lots of people to converse in English. By the way official language in Bombay is Marathi, next common is Gujarati, Hindi, English..........

One month is very short time to learn Hindi even when you are in India.

If you are not staying with a relative or friend pick a good hotel by bus stop/taxi stand/railway station, were people are speaking/understand English. At rush hour railways are crowded avoid them, travel by first class only unless with some one from Bombay is with you.

Have fun.

to stand as much as particularly of accepting each and everything that variety into thrown to them. Why would desire to all human beings learn Hindi leaving their language. each and all of the states have been like international locations on their very own till now British Rule. the way it substitute into United as a one united states of america does no longer mean relax of the rustic to take notwithstanding it shoved directly to them. getting to grasp Hindi has no longer something to do with Patriotism or subculture. i substitute into raised in Chennai. To me something different than Tamil substitute into distant places. i'd desire to narrate to the different South Indian Languages yet truthfully to no longer any North Indian Language. If I had to learn a distant places Language, i'd choose for English over Hindi bcos of glaring reasons.

I am not too sure about which school to go to - I am sure there are lot of those there since lot of non-hindi speaking wanna-be actors land there daily.

However, you will find a lot of people who speak comfortable English.

Have fun and be safe !
