Maine of course! actually i would start in Florida visiting universal studios i loved it their i think you would like the terminator simulation they have. then make your way north west to the grand canyons, Vegas Hollywood if you ski Colorado good. if you want to see Niagara falls i would start in new york then walk to the Canadian side because their view is so beautiful. and much much more:)

San Francisco, Yosemite, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, San Diego, Los Angeles, and US 101 back up to SF.
hmmm 2 weeks might not be enough for that.
If you prefer the outdoors, SF, Yosemite, Las Vegas, Grand canyon
If you prefer glitzy cities, SF, LA, Las vegas
if you love the ocean, SF, LA, San Diego, and a leisurely drive up the 101 (Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Hearst Castle, Big Sur, Monterey, Santa Cruz)

I drove cross-country one summer. So, I would say Las Vegas (even if aren't a gambler), San Francisico, Virginia was beautiful and smelled so 'green', Key West. I haven't been to the Grand Canyon, but it should probably be on your 'must see' list. I drove thru NY city and couldn't get outta that grid-lock fast enough. Denver was kinda cool too.
