I would choose Boston of those three. More culture, more history, more going on, better food, closer to beaches and other good vacation spots, and better climate. Syracuse is too snowy in the winter, and Pittsburgh is in the middle of nowhere. On the other hand, if you want a smaller city and less traffic, those would be worth considering.
It's amazing how many people don't answer the question, isn't it?

Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is a great city that has a lot of things to offer that most cities do not... Its a great place to raise a family has a very unique identity.. Great Culture Top Museums and Theaters.... great restaurants and has really turned around from its days of being a steel town.... Its one of the top cities in the country in the medical, technology, and financial industries... its also home of the five time superbowl champion steelers, as well as the number one rated baseball park in the country and a pro hockey team... Pittsburgh is often overlooked because of what it was 60 years ago....
Boston on the other hand gives it some competition... boston is a much larger city but has about the same ammenities... its a little more deeply rooted in our nations history and is easier to travel to and from because the airport offers more direct flights as well as international travel... with the fall of usairways pittsburgh is a pain in the butt to get to by plane (not that it makes that much of a difference on your life)
Boston also has a much more diverse population than pittsburgh or syracuse... but one thing to truly consider that pittsburgh has to offer is that it is being reborn... the downtown area is going through major changes, housing in downtown is certainly the new trend and it is very affordable, unlike boston, the cost of living in the pittsburgh area is certainly less than cities that have the same thins to offer and because of the smaller population traffic is never so bad... boston has some of the worst traffic in the country (although they are working on that from what i understand) my vote is for pittsburgh because of the amennities and the value

Out of those cities I've only been to Pittsburgh (I live about an hour away) so I would go with that one. I love Pittsburgh anyway. Then Boston.

Boston, MA is the easy choice amongst the three cities. It is the only city that was mentioned that has a great economy, schools, history, art, culture, beaches, etc... The other two don't even come close!

Pittstburg. Because Christina Aguilera grew up there. Or Boston would be a second choice cause the Red Sox are there and it is always fun becoming a true fan to a team.

Syracuse, since NY is an artists hub.
Pittsburgh is filthy and kinda boring. Thus it's nicknamed "The Pitts."
And Massachusettes is full of hippy liberal morons who are too selfish about their know-it-all attitudes to realize that they are incapable of learning anything!

I prefer living OUT OF the city, ANY CITY, as I am now. And I certainly wouldn't consider any of the three you named above, even if I HAD to live in one. God Bless you.
