There is no such thing as Bollywood dances.

They are actually old Indian Rass Gerba with western touches and some are just Indian version of western dances.

In Rass there are few pairs and they carry a stick in each hand, choreographer puts them in various spins like in square dancing.

Garba are about the same without the stick.

Then there is khatak and other authentic Indian dances. They are like Belay or Hawaiian Hula-Hula..

Ganesh Acharya, a choreographer
of Bollywood does some teaching.

But what will you achieve, by
learning Bollywood dances.
Do you want to be one of the
junior dance artists in a crowd
on a road, Gateway, studio
etc.? These artists are (dance)
paid not more than Rs.500/
per song picturisation.
Your artists' life will not be
insured, nor will you get
any travelling allowances.

The career will get ruined, if
one looks for this career.
You always have to beg to
the assistant dance director
or masters for a small role.

The dance artists one sees,
in the films live in slums and are
forced to do so many ugly things
in life, that one cannot imagine.

One of my close relations
had shifted to Mumbai for
his son's break in Bollywood
films in dancing. But they are stru-
ggling for survival. This boy was
a runner up in Boogie Woogie
National Finals.
