I agree completely. Marriage is a decaying and corrupt institution. Sartre said "marriage is an immoral institution, because its only function is to keep people together by the force of law, even when they do not want to be together anymore".

There is no question that marriage should be abolished. The difficult question is what to replace it with. I have some ideas that I wrote about in my blog, but until we find a generally desirable substitute, people will continue to cling to marriage for emotional support. Social institutions have considerable staying power long after they stopped serving any useful purpose.

That's silly. Just because some marriages fail, doesn't mean they all will. A better thing to do would be require pre-marital counseling so that people have some concept of what they are getting into. Too many people marry for the wrong reasons, and then wonder why it blows up....
Also, a lot of people give up too easily- at the first problem, they want to just "pick up their toys" & run off.
Marriage is for the mature.
