Pour a solution of one cup white vinegar to one gallon water on the stain and blot with towels. Rinse repeatedly with plain water and blot with clean towels.

Blot up as much of it as you can. Then a damp rag and clean as much as you can that way. Then keep adding a water and vacuuming with a shop vac until you get all of it. Be careful with the shop vac because as you know there will be lots of bubbles. You may have to saturate the carpet and if so you want to make sure you get the shampoo and water out of the padding too.

I hope this helps.

I've just used a shop vac (wet/dry) and lots of water to get shampoo out in the past. There may be a better way, but that's how I've done it.

Have you tried something to strip shampoo. Like water mixed with cheap winger?

Maybe you need something to break down the shampoo a bit.
