We are moving from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Pichi, what is the name of the town that you lved in outside of Eugene? We are considering not living inside the city if the location is right. did you like living there better than in directly in Eugene?

I lived in the Eugene area for 25 years and loved it. I lived in a small town just a few miles outside of Eugene. Three of my adult kids still live there, so I spend a lot time there even now that I live elsewhere.

Eugene is a laid back, easy going kind of small city, and it has a small town feel to it in good ways. If you like outdoor activities, everything you could want is within anywhere from a few minutes to less than an hour drive ... including the ocean beach and ski areas in the mountains. There are many large parks, plus a lot of neighborhood parks, and bike paths just about everywhere. It is very much a family oriented community.

The weather is generally moderate, though it can get a bit hot in the summer, but doesnt generally get too cold in winter, though it can be icy on the morning commute in Jan/Feb. It rains somewhat in the winter and spring, but often its more of a heavy drizzle, and there are plenty of breaks in it.

Eugene also has a lot of cultural events, from concerts, live theater, to art, and even an independent movie theater that shows films you wont see elsewhere. Also, there are plenty of opportunities for higher education, with the University, a community college, and several small colleges.

I'm from Beaverton, OR. I like Beaverton, but I don't know about Eugene. Where are you moving from?
