Some Walmarts sell fabric. We have 5 near us, and two sell fabric. One has a very small dept, the other huge. Call your local Walmart and ask.

Well, there are two different parents to Halloween, the Celts, and religion. They really are the same, but the time period is what differentiates between what I mean, originally, costumes were worn by the Celts on All Hallows Eve to scare off the spirits. They believed that the connection between the afterlife was weakened on All Hallows Eve, thus the spirits could come to our world. The church morphed this, they developed a holiday known as All Saints Day, in order to honor the saints without a day. All Hallows Eve was the night before this, and as with All Souls Day, and All Saints Day, it was celebrated by dressing up as saints, devils, and angels. So, no, I doubt it is offensive. I wouldn't, not really, iconography should hold little importance to my beliefs. Halloween is for fun, and, honestly, I'm sure that if humanity really tried, everything could be construed as offensive.

Wow! I did not even know that there were WalMarts that did not sell fabric. All the ones I go to do. Assuming that you too are near one that does, go ask them about the dollar per yard fabric. My local Walmarts all offer an entire large table devoted only to this material. It's awesome! You can get some really great deals! Good luck and I hope you find what your looking for. Ebay might offer some good deals on that too, though I am not sure. It's just a suggestion.

I would go to any fabric store and look in the bin where they have odd pieces. Or, a better idea, if you need velvet, why not look in a Salvation Army store or used clothing store for something made of velvet that you could take apart and use?

Sometimes you can get some old velvet outfits from a thrift store. Or go to Walmart or another store and see if they have any on sale. Or try asking your grandmother. Any velvet I've ever received in my life has been from my grandmother, bless her heart!

I'd try a second hand store first, if there are any near you. The fabric can be washed before you sew it...but it depends on how much you need. Then if you have no luck, I'd go to Walmart.

Does your local Wal-Mart have a "$1/yard" bin? Otherwise, check out the remnant bins at any fabric store.
