If you use a ppt to teach, use it as an aid, not a big book.
Put pictures and notes or examples
Maybe if you put the notes or info that the students are supposed to know on the ppt so they can copy it down.
What i'm trying to say is, use the powerpoint as an outline. Put all the important facts on there, but condense them into note form. THen as you speak about the stuff, elaborate on what you have on the slide.

I agree, the sky is the limit... however try to make it as interactive as possible, remember that sometimes too much of something can become a little too tiredsome for students. Try to use tools like the pointer so students can come to the front and use it to highlight, point, etc. Another idea is to try to make presentations in interesting ways, instead of following a straight approach try to do something where students can explore, for example if you are talking about the planets you can use a graphic of the planets and use each planet as a hyperlink for the facts about it; this gives the students the choice of where they want to go and explore next. PowerPoint presentations work best with outlines (which could be for history, social studies, english, etc) and can even work good with mathematics.
I find PowerPoint to be an excellent revamping on ways to teach students lessons! This way, they can really get involved.

any topic is great for ptt...just make sure to have images that match up with it...also, try to find hands on activities, as some teachers over do it with ptt...and then students learn to hate them.

History works very well. Diagrams, maps and pictures of people really help. I would also suggest Biology.

i cant tell you which subjects, but i do know from experience being a college student.......DONT put everything on the power point and read off it. i dont know if you do that, that is just freakin annoying to listen to someone read off a power point
