History tells us about things that happened before our lives. Of course it is narrated usually from one person's perspective. And usually learning the past helps us live a better life in the present and future. Also, once you learn about something that interests you, you must always find more, to make sure you have all the facts.
For several years, the world grew up learning that Columbus discovered America? Now we know different, and what a curse Columbus actually was to the continent of the americas.

I used to hate history as a subject now i'm planning to study it in college :) study history to learn about the past, where we've come from, how things have changed. it also gives us a greater appreciation for how things are now and what we have like our freedom, technology, health care etc...

Because history can repeat itself. Just look at the "in" fashion styles and the remakes of movies and songs. You can also learn a lot from the mistakes of others.

because you need to know where do you came from. the historry is the best i love history and everything about it. i dont know you but history make you a smart person.otherways is so interesent the history make people live

So that you can understands the good and the bad of human beings.

And so that you can learn from their mistakes, selfishness and hopefully you will be a better person.

There are also stories about good and great personnel in the past. They set forth the example to how to be a great man and contribute to the societies.

Because we have a whole lot of troops in Iraq getting killed because people failed to learn from past mistakes. People who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Regardless of your political affiliation, If you don't understand how your government works you are asking for people to mistreat you and not care about your concerns.
