Medicine is not an exact science - nothing is cut and dried, black and white. It's all shades of grey.

Did YOU see two babies on the ultrasound? I'm guessing you didn't. Sometimes one hides behind the other, or is just at the wrong angle to be seen properly. It happens. Be glad they're not telling you something horrible is wrong with your kid. That happened to my friend - when her daughter was pregnant, the radiologist called her and told her there was something wrong with the baby's heart, so they needed to do more tests. They did the tests, and everything was fine - there was a shadow or something on the ultrasound that showed as a defect.

It happen to my mom...I myself am a twin..they couldn't tell until later on in her pregnancy...do twins run in your family? It is hereditary on the females side so if there are twins on your mothers side of the family chances are you're having twins. It skips a generation so it would have had to have been in your grandmothers generation that the last twins were. That's all I really know! But good luck you'll have your hands full!

yes thats not uncommon in the beginning they cant tell if there is one or two yolk sacs and sometimes one of the babies hides behind the other. or you could of had a ultrasound tech that was new. a second test should clear it up now that you are further along. good luck

Yes, this can happen occasionally. My wife who is a doctor tells me that while it is not common, this does occur and is not harmful to the baby. You are going to bring two beautiful children into the world, be glad you are spreading the miracle of life. Lots of luck and happiness for you and your new babies. :)

Yeah, it happens. One fetus can be behind the other or the ultra sound wand not exactly in the right place to spot two of them.
