Boredom or loneliness?
You need not to choose from either one… both are inside of you.

Some people may feel plenty in a desert island just by themselves, while some others would be lonely in the middle of a crowd.

Same thing about boredom, you are the one that puts salt to your way of life or relationship. You don’t need to tolerate a boring relationship, but most of the time you cooperate to make it bored.

So, you don’t need to choose between boredom or loneliness, most of the time those sad feelings are inside of you, so change yourself!

loneliness is a much more intense feeling than boredom. boredom cannot even be described as a feeling, more like an absence of feelings. at least loneliness is dynamic and usually has a root cause. boredom is just a vacuum of numbness...blah

Loneliness. I am an only child (now 53) so I learned when I was young to entertain myself. I really enjoy spending 'quality time alone'. While I have enjoyed the company of friends as much as anyone, there used to be times I wished they would go away and leave me alone. As far as boredom goes, that is a common complaint of people who aren't as good at self-entertaining, and who depend on other people for company. Some people feel like they have to be talking out loud constantly or they feel bored. Personally I find that silence is often golden. I am my own best friend...and worst enemy!

If you have to feel one way or the other, boredom is preferable to loneliness because it tends to be a shorter-lived condition and because it can be immediately ended by a personal decision to find something interesting to do. TWH 09132006

Boredom can always be fixed by you. Loneliness, not so much. You can't force people to like you.

I think I would prefer loneliness over bordom. Hey is why. If you are stuck with loneliness, but not bored, you can at least say that your mind is preoccupied with something because you are not bored at all. But if you are bored, and not lonely, that could mean many different things. That means you could be bored with your partner, bored with life. Too bored to do anything about being lonely. Yes, I choose loneliness first.

boredom--if you pick loneliness then you totally choose to be lonely and that means you have major depressive issues
