I had the same problem ,and the eye doctor ask me if I was using eye drops a lot an of course I was because my eyes stayed red all the time ,he told me to stay off all eye wash or drops for good an eventually the redness would heal on its on ,and it did somewhat but then I realized I had allergies an took allergy medicine an they stay clear now .

It could be allergies. There is an over the counter eye drop that contains an antihistamine, it says it's for allergy eyes. Or you can get a prescription one. I've tried both, the prescription one seemed to work better. Try one to see if it helps.

But I get this problem from time to time which I think is caused by working in a dusty enviroment.

A lot can. Stress, lack of sleep, injury, dryness, ect. It probably is nothing. I would just take care of it and let it rest some.

Irratation, you may be allergic to the products your using, or some sort of perfume, etc...
