Nixon was never convicted of a crime. Ford preempted any trial by giving him a pardon for any crimes he may have been accused of.
And for the Bush haters, Bush must have committed a crime before he is pardoned. I didn't hear you libs demanding a trial when Clinton perjured himself to a grand jury. Or is it different for Democrats.

The pardon prevented Nixon from being brought to trial for his alleged part in the scandal. And no, no President has ever served time in prison--Clinton should have after leaving office, for perjury if nothing else, but I guess after the impeachment trial fizzled, it just didn't seem worth it, not to mention that his wife had just entered the Senate.

Anybody that doesn't believe that Nixons' pardon from Ford wasn't set up before he agreed to make Ford vice-president would believe anything!

Ford pardoned Nixon BEFORE any kind of prosecution of Nixon took place. That is exactly what will happen in Nov. and '08 if the Republicans win .

No president has served prison time. Nixon was MUCH smarter than Ford. Trouble is, Nixon was an a**hole.

Why would he have served time? He never had a trial, and was never convicted. Where would his sentence have come in?
