lots. the president..is just the president but he has an army of advisers that bombard him...with advice -- good or bad..and sometimes mediocre...dependent on whose side you are or the outcome of the advice...hope it helps...
ps. yes, the President understands. don't underestimate him.

He understands nothing.. which explains why September 11th attacks occurred, why thousands died, why hurricane Katrina didn't receive as much help as needed and will be the reason why the entire world destructed.
HE KNEW ABOUT THE THREATS OF 9/11 BUT DID NOT!! I REPEAT DID NOT!! SEND OUT ANY TYPE OF WARNINGS!
But remember, people that voted for him are just as much to blame as him... if it weren't for their votes, our world wouldn't be as much of a hell.
And, as you can see you'll never get a really good answer on this site because Bush Lovers want to make you believe he is actually doing something productive for the US.
If you ask me, we need to bring back Clinton. Yeah, he had an affair but that was his personal life and when it came to our country, he served us well.

He understands only what his fellow chickenhawks tell him. This war has been in the planning stages since the first time Rumsfeld and Cheney were appointed to government positions, back when The Texas Oil Cartel first took financial control of the RNC. This led to the framing of Nixon and his ultimate loss of office.
Regretably, Mr. Nixon was the last Republican president that had the fortitude and honor to stand up against the Texas Oil Cartel.
Cheney and Rumsfeld were appointed to Mr. Ford's cabinet and immediately laid the groundwork for the ultimate invasion of the middle east.

Probably nothing. However, his advisers believe they know a great deal, and he trust his advisers, so as such the President feels he know a great deal. You can argue if they actually know anything or not, but he does draw from his own opinion-makers--many of which have their own specific motives and bias to look out for.

I agree with crct2004: Money!!! He uses the American tax payer's money to basically give it to American companies in the Middle East. From one pocket to another, under cover of war (he also uses the money to pay for the war, but that's not the reason why he is doing it). And as she said, American are patriotic!

He understands that you can make an awful lot of money if you have the right connections, like Haliburton etc. When you create chaos you can do allot of stealing and no one will notice.
He also understands that Americans are patriotic and will let you get away with allot when the country is at war.

A lot more than you or any of the liberal media who have blinded you, do.
DON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS?!?!?!
Whom do you think you are questioning and insulting the President's decisions!?!?!?!
He is the President and as such, makes the decisions for this Country, and has innumerable sources of counsel and insight about the types of decisions to make about this war!
Why don't you all just shut up, sit down, and let the President make the decisions that not one of us would be able to make on our own.

A lot more than you do.
He gets daily briefings and intelligence reports.
Along with advice from the chiefs of the military.
Coulpled with his faith in God, and desire to do what is right,
He knows a damn sight better than most of the hacks and Bush haters out there.

He understands that his PRIMARY responsibly as President is to protect the American People.
Versus the previous administration who ignored the 4 prior attacks on the US (1st attack on the WTC, attack on the USS Cole, and the attacks on the US Embassy's). The same administration who reduced our armed forces to record lows. Hugging and kissing the terrorist doesn't cut it.
One Nation, under GOD with Liberty and Justice for ALL !!
I'm glad you asked ... and thank you AlGore for inventing the Internet to allow us to have this exchange.
