Would you turn it into the store where you were at or take it and go through it and take what you wanted out of it? Be honest.

If I found a wallet or a purse I would definitely make sure the person it belonged to got it with the content which was in it. Following the Golden Rule, I would hope someone would return mine if found (actually it has been several times... LOL!)

I would take it home, look into it and hope to find any information
to contact that person, so I can call (her) and start from there!
Or ,if it is just the purse but nothing important in it, bring it back to the store!
I tell you, if you honest and get a chance to return it to the owner, they should appreciate your honesty,it takes a ton of time to replace IDs and more and you never know if you might lost your purse one day and wished, someone is honest enough to return it to you!

I've returned lots of stuff I've found. If I can find ID on the property I'll contact them and send it to them; I once contacted someone's credit card co because all I could find in the bag was a receipt. They passed on my address and the owner contacted me. The only occasion I've regretted was handing lost property (a new bottle of scent) into a store, and being suspicious about the way the store clerk responded. I phoned them later to ask if someone had handed in any scent, and they said no.

Anyone who keeps a found wallet is a jerk.

I will be honest but before I return to the store where I was, I better look for a contact information on the wallet first. It's better that way, not that I want a reward or something.

Definitely! I know what it is like to be VICTIMIZED by an Ex-Spouse, so I would make sure that any wallet or purse I found is TURNED IN for return to the owner.

Easier said than to be done, it is really tempting, but I will return it to the real owner not at the store. I would look at the wallet and find and contact the real owner. It found a wallet before twice or 3x and I contacted the real owner. It felt good. I beleive that what comes around goes around. But hey if there's no identification I would keep it.

I would take it back, because that is what I would want someone to do if they found mine.

Once I left my purse at a school, and there were so many chances for someone to take it, but the next week I came in and the purse was still there, right where I left it.

I would definitely return it,it could be someone's only monthly income or etc. stealing is never the answer to anything. I would return it as is,someday you might be in the same predictiment and hope that someone returns your purse or wallet after losing it would'nt you want them to return your property as is? Do the right thing and have a clear consciuos,Temptation will always get you in trouble in this kind of a decision.

I would now.

But I always think it's easy to be honest when you have no real money worries.

I rather suspect that if things were different and I was hard up I might just have the money away; I'm certainly not a saint or anything by nature.

Yes. Whatever you pull out of that purse won't be worth the guilt you'll feel for taking it. I lost my wallet at a basketball game and was a wreck until the person who found it called me and returned it. If they hadn't, that could've devastated my life. I couldn't imagine putting someone else thru that. Oh yeah, and I gave them a reward too.
