You can't vacuum if there's no power, so why would you need the light? You can't get into the corners of the carpet anyhow, so why taunt you by showing you the extra dust?

And how many people really vacuum under their collective beds/couches?

It's to warn the dust bunnies so that they can hide under the couch. It's PETA thing.

It's not about being able to see, it's about being able to see better. You may be able to see the dust better with more light.

However, if you're at all familiar with the blender-button war of the 1950s, there is another possibility. Blenders got ridiculous in the 50's, advertising 40 different speeds. Honestly, would you use 40 speeds in a blender?. Six are plenty. However, if you're deciding between a blender with 25 speeds and 40 speeds, which are you more likely to buy? I think that the light in the front of the vacuum is a necessity because we're more likely to buy one with a light than without.

Well.. I am sure that it is NOT because they expect people to vacumn at night but there are rooms that are dimly light and the light helps a little... but when one really thinks about it.. it was a poor question and obviously the person who thought of the IDEA of putting a light on a vacumn did not have his IDEA BULB brightly lit

So you can see what you are vacuuming up under your couch or easy chair where it is dark. (A lot of couches used to sit up off the ground.)

they put the lights there so that they can sell the vacuum for the couple extra bucks. or maybe its one of those "just in case" things. like, just in case you dont wanna turn on the lights for some reason.

To highlight small objects, such as coins, rings, etc which will reflect the line before you suck them up and damage said item along with your vacuum.

Well of course you have to have the light in front. Why would you want it mounted on the back to see where you have already been? You already know where you have been!! Besides, everybody knows that is where the brakes lights are located!!

The light catches small sharp objects that you may not normally see, such as tacks, hair pins, baby pins, paperclips, etc., but could do the machine damage should they get sucked up inside.
