The Snap'n'Go is NOT a convertible car seat. The Snap'n'Go is a stroller frame that works with any infant car seat.
A convertible car seat means that it's good for a child between, say, 5 and 35 pounds. It can be installed front or rear facing, and it has a 5-point harness.
Any car seat you buy will have been approved by the NTSA, so they're all "safe."
You need to find a seat that fits your baby and your car. And there's no substitute for just trying a bunch of them out.
People love those Britax car seats, and they're great for some kids. For example, if you have a tall, skinny kid and you take lots and lots of cross-country car trips, your child might be much more comfortable in a Britax.
But I found that the Graco ComfortSport fit in my car (Honda Civic hatchback, then Honda CR-V) great, and other seats didn't really. And it fit my daughters and my pocketbook.
My husband, though, drives a pickup, and he needed a different seat. I think his is a Cosco Alpha-Omega Elite or something like that?
Some baby superstores will let you try different seats in your car before you buy one, which is great. If you can't do that, see if you can borrow car seats from friends and do some experimenting.
Anyway, that's what you should think about. Find a seat that fits your child, and can be easily and properly installed in your car. And then see what fits your budget. You need something that works for all three.

Britax, hands down. They're the safest, most comfortable, made of the best materials, the straps don't twist like other brands frequently do, and they are so much more user friendly than the other carseats I have used.
They have several styles that are convertable seats. I have the Roundabout, which is good for 5-40 pounds (5-33 rear facing, 20-40 forward facing). I am going to be getting a Marathon soon for my toddler to sit in and will put the baby in the Roundabout. The Roundabout has a maximum length of 40 inches and my daughter will be there pretty soon (well, probably in the next year or so, but she is tall for her age) which is why we're getting the Marathon which doesn't have a maximum length as far as I can tell.
In seats, look for comfort, ease of use, whether it will work well in your vehicle, and also look to see if the manufacturer has a lot of recalls on their seats. All seats will meet minimum safety standards.

First off yes any carseat can be safe. Yes some brands have better features than others. BUT...the best carseat by far is one that fits your car properly, as a former carseat technician and car seat sales person for Babies R Us, I have fitted everything from a Porche to a Hummer and some arent as easy as they may seem. For example, dont try to put a Britax in a Porche, unless you can find a 4-door, gl, it probably wont fit rear facing nor very well forward facing. Of course other things should be taken into consideration as well like leather seats, year and make of vehicle, as well as the convertible seats themselves. I wont go into all the details because i would probably take alot of typing and time but my suggestion is to go to your local police dept with the seat you have and ask them if they do seat checks if they dont ask them if they know some one who does. this way you can be sure that it is installed correctly and fits your car. if more questions answered please contact my friend Steve "the seat expert" who is typing this @ Dmouse81@yahoo.com

The graco snap 'n' go is best convertible car seat, since it snaps into the car and then onto the carriage frame in less than a minute. Its also extremely safe and well cushioned.

First of all you have to make sure your kid can't climb out of it. Accidents happen because parents are busy trying to keep their children in the seat. They have these kinds now where the buckles are so difficult to get undone that even the parents can have a hard time at first. But your child will not be able to get out of it. If the car seat has sides for your child to rets their head on then it should be comfortable enough. Try to get one with plastic clips and not metal to avoid it getting to hot in the sun. Get one that is easy to buckle in and take out, but stays in place when you put it in. thought my car seat was on tight once and wentaround a sharp corner back when I had a two seater truck, and my daughter and her car seat ended up in my lap. Which goes hand in hand with making sure it's in right. So find one htat doesn't take a geneous to install correctly. Look online for recalled car seats and recommended ones to make sure you get a dependable brand. One with a bar in front of them is good for them to rest their arms on, hold toys, and is extra protection in the case of a car accident. Depending of course on how old the child is. Hope this helps at all.
