They might keep bragging because they want you to acknowledge the achievement.

Next time they bring it up, say "Yes, you've told me that story many times before. That's really great that you were able to do that." Pointing out how many times you've heard it may help.

If they continue to bring it up, say "I'm happy for you, but I don't want to hear about it anymore. Let's talk about something else."

Talk about someone or something better then what they're bragging about.
Say they're bragging about prom and they got a dozen roses.
So you say well suzy got 3 dozen roses and a limo!
They'll feel dumb and shut up.
Someone always has it better.

Why be with someone who's a turn off to you? If he's 40-one and nevertheless braggs about what percentage or who he "slayed" then he will in no way cease. it is something you do even as your 18 yrs previous no longer 40-one. Is he bragging to his friends today about "slaying" you?

Tell them that it's getting old. I would also let them know they need a new conversation and if they can't come up with one than they should talk to someone who is actually interested in the same repeated conversation.
Get a new friend!
