Although I'm a Dad(!) I can recommend the one we have - it's a Graco from Baby's R Us, very sturdy and easily assembled, and comes with an electronic activity centre that clips securely onto the tray to keep baby amused. And it was only £25! Bargain!!

I love my walker! It is Baby Trends Bear walker and it can be found on amazon.com. It is about $29.00 (US) and my son loves it!!! When I have another child I would get another one exactly like this one. Also it folds up for storage. Most don't! Good luck and congrats. My son was strong enough to be in the walker since 1 1/2 months old and he is walking at 9 1/2 months on his own. I think the walker/baby not walking in time thing depends on the baby. Take care!

Any walker that has at least 3 different heights u can adjust it to and a removable play centre on the tray are a godsend in the early days when they cant quite work out how to walk it, then later remove so they can have thier juice etc while they wizz about, my last one was from toys'r'us but i cant remember the make i'm sorry, it was a really good buy, very sturdy, adjustable and interesting for little one at about £30 if i remember correctly (1 yr ago) Good luck xxxx P.S Niel S poss same one xx

All 3 of my children used a baby walker.. It was good for them to be able to move around and good for me , I could have 10 Min's to myself.
I don't agree with those mothers who leave their little-ones in a walker for most of the day. However, I do agree with 10 Min's here and there is fine for baby.
Not only do walkers give them the freedom to move about and explore it builds their leg muscles up..
You will have to watch your little-one to make sure he doesn't touch things he shouldn't be touching and when he has got the hang of zooming around watch out for your feet & ankles!!!!
As for a good baby walker I could not say, the ones I purchased were from Toys R Us and cost about £24.99, they also had the removable tray and toys that were detactherble
Here is a few ideas you might want to concider when buying a walker...
Support and comfort to baby.
Safe and detachable toys, cushions and seat.
Should have some protecting cushioned rings around the baby walkers to protect baby from bumping.
Easy to wash and clean.
Material used should be durable and tough enough to carry baby weight properly.
Wheeled frame should be wide so that it doesn't harm or injure delicate feet of the baby.
Hope this helps...

I am a daycare provider and do use walkers and also exersaucers. I've never found that it makes a difference in how fast baby walks but it can be a real lifesaver to put baby for a few minutes when you need to get something done. One word of caution, don't leave baby in the walker for long periods of time--babies have poor circulation and it can hinder their development.

Bought one yesterday!!! Mothercare "Bubbies" range slo-go walker. About £40 - has an activity tray which comes off just to leave a little table if you like, nice and colourful, suits a boy or girl, adjustable height. Great and she loves it. Good product for a relatively cheap price. Did see new ones on ebay though for a bit cheaper!
