Its basically 4 desperate housewives, but was 5, but Mary Alice killed herself within 5 minutes of the first show and becomes the narrator. It shows 4 typical women who are desperate to find happiness, even within themselves, it shows a nice neighbour hood, perfect nice houses with nice cut lawns, kinda a hint of Stepford wives, each different and look for something different but bottom line is happiness. As people walk in and out of the sitcom, everyone thinks these 4 friends are happy and content with themselves, but once they get inside their perfect houses within the perfect neighbour hood, things change, things shatter, and cracks appear.
So much that friends turn upon friends and use each others heart breaking pasts to get men and what they want. One gave her life up to become a mom when really her job was her life, another loves men so much that she would trample on her own friend to get the one night fling, the other lost her husband to his secretary, one is perfect, likes to eat at the table, makes fancy dinners, but the kids really want the odd beef burger, sausages and fries etc. One loves money so much.
This sitcom is unpredictable and funny, but it proves that you should never judge a book by its cover, that things may seem OK on the outside but inside, is falling apart, and also, money cannot buy happiness, that you can have every car, and everything that you want, but eventually there's too much and makes you depressed and lonely, not happy.

Well, be prepared for some wordiness. the show is about five women who live on the same street in the suburbs. Susan (my favorite) is a children's book writer (illistrator?) and has a teenaged daughter. Her husband left her after three years of marriage. She fell in love with ths guy, Mike, and there were going to have a future together. Then Susan ex wanted her back and Mike found out about a son that is probably his and they broke up. But there is still hope. Lynette is married to Tom and they have four kids. Well tom has five, we just found out. Tom is now a stay at home dad and Lynette is the Vice President of sales at some big company. They are trying to balance their lives. Edie is the street divorcee if you know what i mean. She fell for Susan ex. They broke up because he still loved Susan. She burnt down Susan's house afterwards. Bree was an alcoholic who almost married the guy who murdered her husband. Don't worry, she didn't know he did it. Her late husband was having an affair with the street prostitute. Her son is gay, 17, and she aboandoned him in the middle of nowhere. Gabrielle was having an affair with her gardener who was 16 years old. Then she became pregnant, lost the baby and tried to have another. She and her husband are currently separated. This all started when thier neighbor and friend Mary Alice killed herself. I thik that should cover it.

the idea of housewives in this picture perfect picket-fenced tree-lined neighborhood all having their own set of problems and heartaches etc sounds so enticing. but i followed one season and it's so dragging. they really make sure you watch the next show because they leave you hanging. if you have a nothing better to do, it's not a bad thing to waste your time on.

The story involves several women living on Wisteria Lane. There are lots of plots and subplots and characters, making it too complex to explain here. But there's a great summary on the official ABC web site for the show:
