I would like to possibly have a saltwater tank that would only hold a clownfish, is it possible to make and what would be the steps to follow in order for it to be sucessful?

Yes, but you would need a florescent light and a filter with a bio-wheel and a marine test kit and hydrometer. You would need three inches of live sand or aragonite as a substrate and 5 pounds of live rock in the tank as well as snails. You will also have to keep an exact eye on your water levels as any evaporation in a tank that small would cause the salinity of the tank to skyrocket quickly. It will take a few weeks for the tank to cycle with the rocks in it before you can add a fish (like a regular tank), and you will need to replace the bulb at least every year. Use only r-o purified water for water changes and topping off your tank and make sure to mix and aerate your salt water for at least 48 hours before putting it into your tank.

5 gallons is way too small for a saltwater tank. The parameters for a salt water tank are very difficult to keep in smaller volumes, and 30gal is about the smallest you want to go. Besides, your clownfish might get lonely there by himself! Finding Nemo is great, but perhaps you should find Nemo a bigger tank.

I tried with a 10 gal, the smaller the tank the harder it is to keep it balanced. I think a 5 might be too small for a clownfish. I'd go at least a 10.

i would not go below a 20 gal as to get it balanced out....and decorating it is better with a larger tank that would be like having a fish in a fish bowl or in a 5 gal fresh water tank you need filtration protein skimmer ,some coral and were would you fish go in a 5 gal....i would think you would want to set it up for your pleasure and to have something to look at that is relaxing....

DON'T do it beacause doing this will cause the fish to be lonely plus salt fish need regular changes the smaller the tank . 5 is just not the right size but it is for like a goldfish.

I'm no expert on Marine tanks, but that is awfully small.
