My texan cactus has light brown bits on it and tehy are mainly on the base.?

Is it diseased or does this happen with age. I have had it for 5 years and it is about 1 foot big.

Not to worry. I have many in back yard and some in the house. They stand up to almost everything. I'm in Dallas. I have then around my pool with yuccas. That way I don't have to use as much water in the summer. If we are going to have a frost (which isn't often) I cover one of them with a paper bag. The others can tolerate the cold. Good Luck!!! They are hard to kill unless you cut then down!!!!!
