I started dancing when I was 2, so I don't remember my first day ever. But I remember my first day at my new dance class when I transfered at 6 years old.
I was REALLY nervous. My parents had just been through a tough break-up and custody battle, so I was an emotional little wreck. I didn't want to switch schools at all.
I remember I was put in a class of kids older than me because my class was full. When we lined up to do across the floor moves I was scared because, if you've ever danced you probably know, that's when you're in smaller groups and everyone looks at you!
We started with kicks. When it was my turn I could feel my teachers eyes looking at me to make sure I was doing alright. So I just looked straight ahead and went for it. To my surprise she complimented me afterward!
It totally changed my attitude and since then I've always loved going to class!

It was on a summer vacation about a year ago I started taking salsa dance class.
I got to the class, was so nervous and didn’t knew what to do. A guy came took my hand and I was free. The most happy feeling I ever had felt that nothing else mattered out side of the dance floor. No matter sad - the wrong things in my life or how happy i be. I could express all of my felling there, by just dancing.
It’s the greatest feeling still; every time I step on the floor.

I was probably around 23 and decided to take this beginning tap class. I bought myself some tap shoes and went to class. There were probably 50 people or so. The instructor was up front, started playing some music and performing a simple rhythm to the music. Everybody followed together at increasing speed. Then each one had to do it individually and the patterns got more complex and faster. I then realized everyone else knew how to tap dance even though it was a beginning class. I was pretty embarrassed when my turn came and could only do a simple and slow pattern.

If this is something that she's serious about and the studio is very good, then take her, but that means you need to commit also. I drive my 9 year old son 1/2 hr. 3 days a week to be in the All-American Boys Chorus. He's learning so much and he loves it. It's a big commitment from the whole family.

My 1st day at dance class, I stood way in the back which caused me to miss some of the moves because people were in my way. I was kinda shy mainly embarrassed I was scared to be worse than anyone in there. After a while I loosened up and dropped it like its hot:)

I was 12. My first day of dance classes was ballet. The teacher lined us up in 2 lines so that we all can see her and explained us the basic ballets positions. She also explained about posture. Then she showed us some exercises (barre). Then we did it to music that she played herself on the piano. It was nothing like I learned before - it was a new feeling of grace and discipline.

My first ballet class last week....I'm in my 50's (laugh all you want). Confusing, challenging I was grateful when the endorphins kicked in. Tough to walk the next day. I'd die before I quit. Good Luck to all.
