Of course, any practice of intentionally judging or excluding - any change of treatment of another person is racist. Your opening statement is racist in that it makes a blanket statement over a whole group. A lot of groups practice discrimination - it is illegal but they use ignorance of the law as a shield. I suggest you tell all those people to move to Sudan, Yemen, or any other country where they can practice such things.
When you increase 'Black Wealth' - under represented in the wealthy and poor - over represented in the middle class. So you want more wealthy black people? If you want an even distribution you need more poor blacks as well. When you have this wealth will you switch over to equitable practices then?
ok here's just another interpretation
At any rate many people are aware of this - the groups you listed hire each other and no one else - as ignorance and dissent spreads through America we end up with these balkanized societies. Teddy Roosevelt said that America could not survive the Hyphen. DO you think that the country would be better divided this way? Also be careful who you practice this against, because currently the only racial group that even considers hiring other people are whites. Does that mean you will support this openness by buying from white businesses?
I think a smart consumer is a great idea - don’t support financially things you don’t believe in - but right now you are saying race is the biggest attribute a person could possess, and you put race before freedom, equality, government, religion, education, everything. Is race most important to you? SO important that everything else in the world should be destroyed in the interest of some new tribalism? Will you give back all the white ideas in your head? Take out the science, Adam smith, freedom itself?
I think the answer to your question and for peopel you are speaking of is a Lot of education. I think if you carefully looked at history as a whole (who invented freedom for instance) you would end up with a vastly different view of life. Also what your suggesting is economic sedition. I’m not sure you want that. The world doesn’t break into races and histories as neatly as you like, and im sure as neatly as the people you talk to - hers an idea - the first sugar plantations one by slaves were started by arab traders in central American islands in imitation of their slave plantations back home. Europe was the only area in the entire world without slavery. If you are African American your African ancestors were slave owners and slave traders who lost in battle and were sold by other Africans themselves, same as had been going on for 8000 yrs, but on a larger scale. Freedom is a European (or white if you will) concept. Europe back slides into slavery and slave use (they had class systems and servants that were little better. Eventually europe will overcome this, as will America that will fight the costliest war in its history over, in part, this issue. So slave owners include 'native' Americans, Japanese, Chinese, India, all Arabs (and still do) and the countries they overrun, Africa, and the south American societies. Europe imposes its evil western imperial values and bans slavery everywhere it can. European ideas, like communism, leak into Asia. Have you thanked a white person for freedom recently?

Hmmmm, this is a toughie!
As a woman, over the years I have deliberately sought out women in medicine -- my gynocologist (definitely!), my GP and my dentist are all female.
Does that make me sexist?
Would I choose a mediocre woman over an excellent man...I don't think so. My health is too important. But, so far, I haven't had to make that choice although two of my doctors live 12 and 25 miles away.
Is this that different than African Americans supporting other black businesses?
As for Walmart, in the news stories I've been seeing lately, that company has been exploiting and mistreating its own employees. It's going to be hard not to shop at Walmart but until they clean up their act, I'm taking my business elsewhere.
It becomes racist when stereotypes are trotted out for reasons not to shop at a particular place. What is racist about blacks supporting blacks? Rich white Americans support each other all the time! (Look at oil, for example!)

If this is what is happening, then the blacks are doing exactly what has been done to them, many years ago. They are segregating their own color. It is not for any other reason , except to be racest. It is great that the blacks can organize like this, but what will happen when the money runs out ? Then you'll have to get back into the mix of life. I think it is starting a new way of seperation. If we are going to get along in this world with all races, we have to work together. If the rich blacks have their own jobs, shopping establishments, then what is next ?? Your own black country. Are they planning to go back to Africa and control that too?? Be carefull, as this might back fire on you.

You are apparently under the mistaken impression that this is new. This has been going on since the early days of the civil rights era. Perhaps it is "racist", but everybody should be allowed to spend their money where they darn well please. It also might be hard to determine exactly who is black owned. Sammy Davis Jr. converted to Judaism - do you not shop at a store owned by a black guy because he's Jewish? It gets complicated pretty fast. From medical studies I also know that the term "black" is extremely "slippery" territory as most "blacks" are not 100% black. If the owner is only 70% black do you only give him 70% of your business? It makes sense to help out your "bros", but really doing this accurately is extremely problematic. It might make the most sense to shop at the place that gives you the best deal instead.

Not spending money at any other place of business setup in black communities to exploit black people? Are you kidding me? People open a business to make money and to support themselves and/or their families. They take risks that the business will fail, increased debt through SBA loans to raise the capital needed for start-up costs and inventory and a host of other things. They find a place to market their goods and service where there is a need for them..(ie. you won't sell many ice cream bars to an Eskimo). This may be in lower income neighborhoods and you any many other minorities, liberals and such may see this as exploitation but they are providing goods and services that are lacking in those areas. That is capitalism and the free market at it's best. Sadly, today most people are whining about things they 'THINK THEY DESERVE' without ever doing SOMETHING TO DESERVE IT!

Well, first I don't think EVERY single Black person will be on board with this so, it's unfair to lump them all together. I don't think there's anything wrong with INDIVIDUALS deciding to throw their business to an establishment based on race, religion etc... I just don't think it'll work in the long run because I think in the end people buy where the quality and the price are good and that may or may not be at a Black owned business in which case it will ultimately be based on who DESERVES their business.

The motive: to get people of their own community off of welfare is noble but thier method has loopholes.
Loophole #1: by not supporting establishments owned by other races they are negating the beauty of their multi-cultural surroundings in 2006. Their children will also imbibe to this rule as a natural thing. Subsequently they will impose a self-segragation upon themselves.
Loophole #2: People on welfare are not working at these establishments.
I think some other sort of method would need to be brainstormed but as a color-blind community.

Yes, yes I do. Anything that is based on race, pro or con, for any race, is racist. While I agree with the need for the general wealth in the black community to be elevated, monetary segragation does more harm than good to the overall goal of equality.

I'd answer this... But you might get pissed off and come follow me in my posted questions (that have absolutely nothing to do with this) to insult me ) Just for doing what YOU ASKED me to do in EXPLAINING... MY OPINION on one of your "so called" questions.
(** Thanks for removing your comment on my question by the way, since I posted this... I found the fact that you actually followed me, for saying this, quite disturbing.) Glad you re thought your actions. Makes you look creepy...
These are not questions... this is your propaganda and your personal rant in the form of a question where you neither would consider or respect the opinion of anyone else. Your mind was made up so why ask anything of anyone.
Your rational is degenerative, defective and the problem with this country in a nutshell. You are a racist and you don't even know it! That is both dangerous and a shame.
and if you don't want to work in a beauty supply store... Why do you care who does or doesn't?
Come on baby.. tell me it's social conscience, I wanna hear you say it to me daddy!
You have no concept of anything other than being a complete and total racist. You're just another pissed off black american harping and concentrating on what's wrong rather than working toard a goal that unites and unifies us, reguardless of the mistakes of the past.
You are a sepratist... which is no better and no less violent than the Arian Nation. At least in their infinite stupidity, they KNOW what they are and don't try to hide it behind a "Social cause."
What does your attitude facilitate but hatred and intolerance? What does your demenor create? What purpose does all of this serve in the end?
Good for you... I am proud that you have empowered black business owners by using their stores and creating the business they need to succeed and giving them exactly what they deserve.
Would anyone like you, hire a Korean or a White american? Why SHOULD they hire anyone like you?
Do you have any idea how much damage was done to the Korean people? From French Occupation, to the Opium trade, to wars and fights and all the same sh*it that your kind of opinion facilitates and makes never ending through intolerance.
Look... I understand how black people were treated. But I also feel compassion for the Japanese who were rounded up like cattle and placed in camps during Pearl Harbor, The Russian Americans who were treated like criminals in the US since the 50's, the Jews are going through it right now IN THEIR OWN LAND.
Do you really believe that your quality of life would be any better if ignorance and stupidity hadn't brought your ancestors here? Look at the condition of Africa, or Jamacia, or the Indies, of Haiti.
COME ON NOW MAN... THINK!
But the issue is your underlying intention... The things you are not saying are far worse than the things you are. and that being said... Let's agree to disagree and leave it here.
Im sure we have nothing to teach one another but the difference between us is that I NEVER asked you for your opinion. You however DID ask me for mine! Do not contact me or follow me again. and I will leave your questions alone as well.
and to set the record straight... I believe in my heart that African AMERICANS (which is capitolized to negate your argument in one word) and African, africans... are beautiful people. My sister in law is a stunningly beautiful, educated strong black AMERICAN woman who works for a major pharmacy chain as a RPH. A woman, I adore and who shops at walmart (which uses and abuses cheap labor in India) AND the "Korean" beauty supply stores (which are family run and operated). I called her... She agrees with me... not you!
YOU however... are a racist! HUGE difference...

I think if any group wants to band together and act for their common good, that's their business -- whether they are a particular race, a religion, etc.
It might hurt other stores and restaurants, but that's how a free market economy works.
No, it's not racist or wrong. But it would be really hard not to shop at Wal-Mart.
