I think that the minimum wage laws came into effect in US during the 30's. Check with Wikipedia and get details.

There was no minimum wage. You got paid what the boss would pay. Think of it as the third world of yesteryear.

Of course there was no min wage. The market place set the pay, if someone paid too little they did not get any workers.
