Take a walk through your area and see what is growing in those situations. Are you in Oregon??? Grant Pass area?? I am thinking that hedge cedars would do OK. Fast growing and you can buy them already pretty big.

I stay in Alabama and love most of the flora mentioned, fairly bleeding coronary heart. some others which you like are lamb's ear --almost impossible to kill and can strengthen in solar or colour, has pink blooms. A clever to boot and blooming plant is oregano. Oregano is perennial, particularly hardy and can stay in partial colour. different herbs that bloom, are perennials, and can tolerate partial colour are sage, rosemary, and thyme. maximum suitable of success!
