The men always get like 10 years in prison or something (which they SHOULD) but the women only get like probation or house arrest or something. Shouldn't the women be just as guilty as a man?

User "pops" gave a link to this article on Oprah about some woman who molested a kid. That's actually a case I thougth of while writing this question. She got 10 years probation . . . but only 30 days in jail. For a man ( in my opinion, and from what I have heard) it would be double for both.

I agree with you completely and I can only offer a partial excuse for the inequality in punishment between male and female sexual abusers. Men penetrate. Even fairly normal sexual activity by men is borderline violent and can cause physical damage. Women do not normally penetrate and so the source of physical injury is supposed to be less. But the psychological damage that is done when a child is sexually abused is just as great if not greater when the molester is female, because all humans learn about love primarily because of the care of our mothers. This makes the damage to a child's ability to trust much more devastating if a child is abused by a female.
The other reason for this inequality is that our society expects men to be stronger than women and therefore our punishments (and our rewards) for men are always far greater than the equivalent for a woman. I'm not saying that any of that is right, just that that is how it is.

It's NOT O.K. for anyone to molest a child!
I wish the men were all getting at least 10 years in prison but I don't think this is actually happening enough. Women deserve the same punishment. Both need heavy duty counselling.
Statistically, however, aren't there many more men who are molesters than there are women?

I'm not sure where you live but where I live the women are treated just like a man where abuse of a child is concerned!!!! I agree with you that a woman should be held just as guilty as a man!!!! In the case of abuse of a child I believe the DEATH PENALTY should be enforced!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure you are speaking of a specific case, There is no perfect standard in our justice system. Its wrong for both and should be treated as such. The judges vary greatly on these things.

According to the law, the crimes are treated equally.
What a jury decides to do based on the facts of each situation is another matter.

It's not okay for ANYONE to molest a child or another adult. Punishment should be the same for anyone who commits this crime.
