Yes, I did and I'm glad someone brought this up. I don't think that baby-sitter had anything to do with that poor baby's death! I think that either the mother or the boyfriend did it. I don't believe that "shaken babies" show their symptoms immediately as some were saying on the program. I think it depends on the extent to which she was shaken and what the original internal injuries are. I think you can bleed slowly into the brain, for instance, and show no signs of injury initially. I think that's what happened because the baby-sitter said that the baby was whimpering and crying the entire time that she was there. Also, I was appalled to see how the police handled the case! First, they questioned her without notifying her parents let alone waiting for them or allowing her to have a lawyer. They questioned her on and off for more than a day and brow beat her when she insisted on not talking to them. The also lied to both the girl (Amber?) and her parents to get information from her. They seemed never to have looked at the mother, who already had another child die of mysterious circumstances and has Child Welfare involved with her for some time. Moreover, they failed to listen to the EMT who said that the mother showed no emotion when they arrived or at the hospital. The boyfriend had priors as well that pointed to that sort of thing. I sure hope that "Morning Star's" ex has filed for full custody of Madeleine and gotten her by now so that the same sort of thing doesn't happen to her, too. I hope that the baby-sitter can recover from this horrible, horrible ordeal!

That girl did not kill that baby. I think the mom and her boyfriend were doing drugs, and one of them abused the baby the same day (they mentioned that the mom had the baby for 2 hours that afternoon, and that they found traces of cocaine and alcohol in the bedroom of the house), and then when the babysitter shook the baby a little to calm her down, the baby died.
I think it's weird that the parents were there almost the whole weekend behind a closed bedroom door, leaving that poor girl alone to fend for herself when the parents had promised there would be another older girl there to help her. The mother had a child die under suspicious circumstances a few years earlier...AND child protective services had been called on her numerous times before.
I feel awful for that babysitter. I just hope she can grow up and put this behind her and have a normal life and ignore the mother and her nutjob of a sister.

i don't think the babysitter knew if she was really shaking the baby too hard or not... (i know that from personal experience... i got yelled at for years for "wiggling" my sisters to hard...)
but the investigation didn't even check on the parents... and they were convinced they knew the answer without definate evidence...
also, the parents mostly left the little kids with the babysitter instead of supervising like they were supposed to be... and they changed the plans...
i think the parents were to blame more then the babysitter was... even if the babysitter did accidentily kill the baby...
in fact...the parents (err... mom and boyfriend) were neglectful of their children... each had previous charges against them for drug use and child neglect/harrassment, one or the other... the parents had no reaction to the baby's hospitalization, but the babysitter was worried about the baby...
just a bit curious...

The babysitter did not do it. The mom did. She didn't act right. The police should have been sued by the girls parents. She was grilled for 19 hours without a lawyer or parent present. The kid didn't understand a thing that went on. Personally I'm glad I don't live in Seattle. You have to worry about your civil rights with the cops there!!!

NO-WAY, remember her other baby that passed away 10 years ago, and what was with that sister, of morning star, they trapped her in there for 19 hours, oh by the way, if i was in her dad's shoes I"d get rid of that wife of his that suggested she be allowed to baby sit for 3 days and nights, more holes in that story line than O.J. had in his excuses

i think they left that one wide open....... i never got to hear who that woman was that kept trying to prove Ashley killed the little girl....... i dont think that whatever that child did was done on purpose and i blame the parents for not being responsible for there own kids.

I think she's guilty, but I don't think she realized she could kill the baby by shaking her like she did. (cksq)
