TO ME ORION IS THE BEST. I THINK IT IS BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY ONE I CAN ALWAYS PICK OUT AND KNOW RIGHT OFF HAND. THE THREE STARS THAT MAKE UP IS BELT I LIKE TO THINK ARE MY GRANDMOTHER, UNCLE, AND NANA LOOKING DOWN ON ME FROM HEAVEN. IT ALWAYS BRINGS ME A SENSE OF SECURITY AND PEACE. SECOND FAV. IS DRACO THE DRAGON

The Southern Cross is featured prominently on the flags of Australia and New Zealand. I was born in NZ, so I feel a fondness for that constellation.
By the way, speaking of Orion: on a clear dark night take out a good pair of binoculars and look at the middle star in his 'sword'. It's a nebula, and it's really beautiful.

in a strange way i think i agree and know what you mean about orion. It's probably the most instantly recognisable constellation and the moment you see it (especially if i'm walking home at night) you feel you're home, here that is, because it's where it always is and moves across the sky at angles/positions you are familiar with.

We can see Orion, down here too ! ( Even though he's standing on his head ! ) One of my favourite Southern Sky constellations is Scorpio. It really looks like a scorpion...

"I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth. No single space project in this period will be more impressive to mankind or more important in the long-range exploration of space; and none will be so difficult or expensive to accomplish."
