Well technically yes they do get lower as they wear down or get compressed slightly but practically you probably can't feel such a small difference unless there is something wrong with shoe and it has compressed or worn like half an inch in a short time!
For all practical purposes what you are probably feeling is just getting used to them. The body reacts to change much more than it does to something that is present all the time. This expains why you may not notice a bad smell or a loud noise so much if it has been around for a bit.
So, there are two effects. They won't feel so high after you have had them on for a while and also you muscles get used to them for future wear. So, for example if you wear a pair of four inch heels one day, a pair of three inch the next will seem easy by comparison. This is a good tip for buiding up to heels, Wear some 4 inch heels around the house for a few nights and when you wear 2 or 3 inch at school or work the next week, they will be really easy to walk around in naturally,

Yes the more often you wear high heels they quicker they wear down. Its the result of friction between the shoes and the ground. You can get round this by getting the shoes re-heeled every so often. Also depending on how you walk the wear may be uneven and the shoes become lopsided.

I'm sure they will wear out over a long period of time and walking on rough surfaces for awhile like the sidewalk or road. Especially if you drag your heels.

You know, I never thought about it, but it makes sense. They must wear down. Especially the ones that are just leather or plastic heels! Good question!

no...unless your sneakers were the kinds with water in the soles, then the water could have leaked out, but I dont think high heels can get lower...lol unless they broke.

No. You probably are just noticing them getting more comfortable as you wear them more. Try not to wear them too often, though as they can cause some back and leg problems.

Actually, every step you take (sounds like a song title to me) wears a little of both your heel and sole of your shoe. Eventually, they have to be replaced or tossed.
