where is the coil on my 1997 chevy s-10 2.2 liter 4 cyl.

Yeah I know they make it hard. Somewhere under the dash is a optional wire all ready for a tach.

Why would you put a Tach on a P.O.S. like that for? If it was a 350 V8 or a Big-Block I'd understand. But, A stupid 2.2 liter 4 banger. LOL that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

I'm certain this engine has two... and neither one is suitable for a conventional tachometer. Instead, the ECU will have a tach signal wire somewhere. Get a good quality wiring diagram - the ones in a Hayes manual might have it, the factory service manuals certainly will. The wiring diagrams probably won't tell you the location of the wire, but they will let you know what color it is and what it connects to. I think it's a white wire that attaches to the ECU or ignition control module, but you will want to confirm that.
