For my govt class, we're supposed to suggest a solution to the controversy over the embryonic stem cell research & government funding debate -- any ides?
(Sorry, I know this topic has been beaten to death...)

Stem cell research could be a good thing, I am for it, but keep the government out of it for the funding, it should come from private resources.

Watch a movie called The Island with Ewan Mcgregor...would undoubtedly happen without govt oversight.

at that stage in any organism's life it's brain has not yet developed enough to feel anything, not even emotion, to whine about something like that is as crazy as going on a hunger strike in an attempt to stop cancer.
are they gonna try to turn lions into vegans too?
life is valuable i agree, but sometimes certain things must be done in order to ensure survival of our race and this may be one of them, the earth is overpopulated and that makes it all too easy for diseases and viruses to travel, should they (viruses, ect.) be granted rights as they claim these stem cell research subject should, after all they too, are living organisms..........

There already is a solution. Scientists recently found a way of cultivating stem cells without having to kill embryos in the process.

I read there's research showing it is possible to culture and then convert some other kind of cells to stem cells.
