November - 9th month of the Roman year... I think this was before July (for Julias Ceasar) and August (for Agustus?) were added... but I could be way off base on that.

Look in a dictionary under Nov...

November, it was the Romans who screwed up and so added august and july, making November the eleventh month instead of the ninth.
