.Nah I remember, oh god! 1964 Mom and me would pull up in a big ole Chrysler Imperial HA and hit the rubber line and it went DING ! and these guys would run out and greet you! and they had what they called gas wars! and the gas station was selling gas for 29 cents a gallon in southern California. Casper is wrong! three guys wearing white clothes would come out and one would pump the gas, one would check the oil ,and the other would put air in your tires and wash all the windows!! and sometimes they would hand out candy and give us little orange balls to put on our antennae. it was fantastic! and Great Customer Service. and get this they would put in 23 gallons for about $6.67 then mom would give them $8.00 and say keep the tip! and they would say thank you very much MRS >>>>>>>. the tip was Optional.

There's only one gas station left around here that's full serve, but you have to ask to have the oil checked and the windshield washed because the attendants are too young to understand that it's their job to ask those things.
Still, it's nice not to get out of the car, especially if you're dressed up and don't want to get dirty.

Yeah, big time. It's a great thing to not have to risk getting dirty or getting outta' the car yet one more time. Back when Customer Service really meant something more than an impetuous youth grinning, "enjoy", or "no problem" (groan,my eyes are rolling).

They would even carry the wooden case of bottles [glass bottles] of Pepsi out to the truck for me. If it was raining you just rolled the window down an inch and poked the $2 out! LOL The good old days

yes! a "service station" instead of a "gas station". I also remember putting $1 gas in my Mom's big a** Chrysler and driving around all Saturday afternoon.

Not really. I like to get out of the car to stretch and get the circulation going, so I don't miss it. And it's a lot easier to pull my wallet out of my back pocket when I'm standing, than it is when I'm sitting.
