You are kidding right? Or maybe you don't pay attention to the world around you. I am not British, but think about it. We are supposed to be their allies and where do we drag them? Into unpopular wars that we are lied to about entering by our administration.
The Brits pay attention to the news, they know our leadership has been lying to us, and that the majority have been blindly accepting the lies.
We are an embarrassment as they try to support us in one wrongful action after another. Guantanamo with the illegal imprisonments, tortures and violations of the Geneva convention, the lies about the weapons of mass destruction, the gaining of popular support for the war by allowing the attacks on the World Trade Center where so many died...
Then we start turning on the French in subtle ways because they told us there were no weapons of mass destruction. You hear folks mocking the French (who also happen to be allies and close neighbors of the Brits) about their cowardice. (they don't happen to be cowards, they just don't buy into Bush lies like most Americans do.)
When the truth finally hits you, maybe you will just hang your head in shame, or maybe you will take action to right some of the massive number of wrongs perpetrated by this country. Maybe it won't even be too late.

I am Irish living in London for the past 40 years and I have not heard a single word against the US (if that is where you are). There are of course the anti-war Brigade but they would talk down a fight between two 7 year old schoolboys. In fact, I would have said that there is no animosity towards you whatsoever. From this side of the pond, it would appear that all the rubbish being spoken against America and the Government (including your President) is being written by your own people. I know that Free Speech and the Constitution give you the right to condemn your President if you think he is wrong, but the hatred, the allegations of complicity in Terrorist Attacks and indeed his intelligence is forever being abused on this forum. Relax, there is, in comparison to what I have just said, no anti US feelings at all in this part of the UK....................

Hate from Mother England, but how can this be. Jolly old John Bull's Britain not showing the Love? Well it may not be so bad, it could be more of a misinterpretation of a physios shall we say is shared amongst the population. Lack of Sunshine, too much toffee and tea; their toilet paper may be scratchy. get a quart of strong cider into them, they either go belligerent or become quite civil. Being Canadian I find either aspect equally delightful myself. So come on, give them another chance, they are the people that gave the world the gift of industrialization after all. Don't forget all that kinky Victorian stuff too, heck what would goth culture reference today if not that. Forgive them their tonals and urhuphs, they don't even know they 're doing it. I know the People, salt of the earth; they do good by others; take not issue with their words; they live to *****; it's their humour!!

It's probably cause us Americans come off as pompus and arrogant. You have to admit, Americans do act like we control the world, and every country should listen to us and do what we say. It's a major downfall of being an American (the dislike towards us), but I also think that many people of other countries do not like us because they have wrongful stereotypes of us. Many times they get their idea of what Americans are like from television shows (which is MAJORLY skewed). They also may assume that all of us are like our current president. I won't get started on that subject, but I think that they simply haven't had a chance to talk to Americans. I believe that for the most part most of us are nice, and its seems they hate us because they don't know us.

Everybody hates Americans. Some of it's jealousy for our freedom and high standard of living, a lot is from misinformation perpetrated by groups with a vested interest in maintaining that animosity, but most of it comes from the arrogance and ignorance of the American people and especially of our leaders.

British people don't hate people. Its a wrong perception. They like to distance themselves from strangers. Once you know them, they are some of the most sincere and nicest people. This is my experience. Also let us all be careful not to generalize. Take care

They are extremely jealous of our warm weather and proper dental hygiene. Plus that whole colonies and revolution thing always gets a little bit steamed.
