These always impress me as good presents:
1. Anything having to do with my hobby.
2. Take me out on a creative date, just the two of us, and you make all the plans and arrangements.
3. Tickets to a game involving my favorite team.
4. Some article of clothing YOU would like to see me in.
5. A high-end brand bottle of my favorite liquor.
6. A "coupon" for a full body massage by you.
7. Electronics -- whatever he doesn't have but wants of camera phone, digital camera, iPod, laptop, etc.

How about a really nice watch? Any guy would dig a real nice wristwatch try brands like Seiko, Pulsar, Fossil, something of the like. Or how about a really nice pair of sunglasses like Oakleys or Maui Jims. I'm sure he doesn't care about the gift anyway, being with you is probably gift enough. However, I know you feel obligated to buy him a gift so how about just a nice new watch or a nice pair of sunglasses that he can enjoy for many years to come?

Where did you meet? If at a restaraunt or bar etc, consider meeting there for a meal or drink. Dancing and dinner is always a traditional favorite. If you want something more original try making a coupon book, each coupon you make special for him can be redeemed by him only to you only for the value of that coupon. One can be a moonlight walk in the park. A picinic on the beach. A candle light dinner. Kiss and make up, free for one time he gets in trouble. So on and so forth. Personalize to each other. Another idea would be design a T-Shirt with your best memories of the year and print it out with Iron on T-Shirt transfer paper from your home comuter/printer. A bottle of wine and chesse for a candle light romantic snack out on the patio/deck after dark with soft music etc. Congrats on you first year, many more to come!!

Men like things that are visually stimulating. Depending on how old you are, give him a nice naughty picture of yourself in a beautiful frame. Or, try giving him a little something special in the bedroom that night!
