Or a 24h manga cafe?
Pay all the hours you stay in, sleep there overnight and pay the overnight fees, months after months? Or will they kick you out for staying too long?

if you can pay the fee, you can stay as long as you want, although you won't be able to really store any stuff there because you can't leave the building without paying first and by doing so, losing your room. Also, it would be cheaper to just rent an actual room because the cost is rather expensive per hour.

that being said, it's completely possible, you could drink all you want and there is usually food and showers as well. It's handy in times if you are traveling and can't find a hotel room.

While in Chicago I occassionally play hackey-sack with a group of Starbuck's hippies who appear to do just that. I'm not altogether certain exactly how long they do it but it would appear that two of them are basically residents. To date, during my infrequent trips there, I've heard no complaints and being an insomniac have been outside of that cafe at virtually all hours of the day at one point in time or another. I would assume that so long as the owners are receiving the income, it's not a major concern.

Yes you can.
But beware. especially in Tokyo.
Those cafes are the hot bed of the stealing passwords (hackers set "keylogger" into the PC).
Don't type any passwords and IDs.
And the shop is recording (monitoring) your face.

If any accident happens there, the tape will be sent to the police.

One asian guy did and he died. He stayed up for a week straight in the cafe and had a heart attack.

Try a sauna or 24 hour movie theater if you need a cheap place to crash.
