"10 rounder" is a boxing term. It is a long match. The writer is saying that chicken would be insuffiencient food to provide energy for a long boxing match.

this is a boxing remark. ten rounder is a "normal" amount of rounds. chicken ref is most likely deep fried chicken which greasy food is a major gut bomb and makes you slow and have a weak stomach etc....
