Usually pressing F8 repeatedly as the computer starts will bring up the boot option dialogue which allows you to get into safe mode.

just after you computer is turned on, the black screen will tell you to hit F2 for setup or another key F10 or F12 for other option...
you must hit the F8 button at this time...from here you can choose to start your computer in safe mode and use it to restore your computer to an earlier date before it crashed ( i assume this is the reason you asked). but beware, after you do the retstore, your files might not be where you had them. but do not worry, they are there. it will prompt you to either see where the files were sent, or you can choose to look for them yourself. after you do this, it might be wise to defragment your system. this will help to make your computer run faster and might prevent future problems. thanks for the question and I hope this helped.

when rebooting, or booting, keep pressing "f8". and then choose the option with safe mode.
