Alexander Ovechkin IS the Washington Capitals franchise! Of course he will be in training camp and leading the team this year (and for many more to come). I'm not sure what you're talking about but it's possible he had an excuse to miss practice. It happens a lot in professional sports. Go Caps!

Can a woman keep her mouth shut about a surprise party? Of course he still plays for the Caps. These games are pre-season games. The coaches usually want to take a look at the new players in camp. It is quite common that star players are sat out. As far as training camp, the players are sometimes identified by their jersey colour such as Black Aces, Green Rookies, etc. The line-ups and numbers are not required until the pre-season games begin weeks after the opening of training camp.

Ovechkin just signed a very lengthy deal with the caps so it is very unlikely that he will be leaving any time soon. Also these are pre-season camps and most players do not attend these and are intended for evaluation of new comers.

Capitals training camp doesn't start officially till Sept. 15. Some teams due hold practices before this date, but its common for players not to report till camp officially required (Sept 14 in this case).

Yeah, Ovechkin is definately playing for the Caps this year. There's no way they'll let him go. Maybe he was juust taking the day off or something.

It would be foolish for Washington to release someone like Ovechkin.

My best guy friend would died if he wasn't. I really don't care much for Ovechkin, but I know one of his biggest fans.
Yes, he is still playing for Capitals.

Right now, its rookie camps across the league, so you wont find Ovechkin there.
You have to wait until training camp officially opens up in order to see the "veterans".

He's still with the Caps. I think he signed a multi-year entry contract with them though. I don't know, maybe something personal came up and he wasn't at training camp for a few sessions.
