Yes it actually is named Patriot Day and it should be a national holiday. Wanna start a petition?

I don't think September 11th should be a national holiday like Labor Day because the war on terror is just beginning. I do not feel we have the ability to put the attack into historical context at this point. We lost more people in Vietnam, WW2, Korea, etc... and those wars share a single holiday. That being said, I was deeply offended by another poster on here who wrote he thought the talk about Sep 11th was some East Coast conspiracy. People from many nations and states died in the attacks. In fact the attack was considered among the worst (non-war related) in history for the British. Likewise, the attacks represent something a lot more than two buildings. A loss is a loss, but this is not just about the loss. This is about our future and what we stand for as a nation.

I don't think there needs to be another national holiday, especially a week after labor day. But perhaps the victims can be remembered as part of Memorial Day celebrations. There is no reason we have honor those who died right on September 11. There is no holiday for Pearl Harbor yet it is still commemorated every year. We can do the same thing with 9/11.

NO... in fact, I am so sick and tired of hearing about the events of 9/11 almost every day for the past 5 years, that I truly hope this will be then end of it. I am tired of being beaten over the head with what, at best, is a regional tragedy and has only been kept alive because of the East Coast News media.
My wife died on Sept. 19... it was my personal tragedy... it had nothing to do with the World Trade Centers... but It was still my own personal tragedy. I haven't kept beating people over the head with it for the past five years though... I did my grieving and I got on with my life... and it's time for this country to GET OVER IT and get on with THEIR lives...
Enough is enough... and I'm sick and tired of hearing about nine eleven.

It is and will always be a day of remembrance - at least for some of us. I think of all the people who lost loved ones on that day. I am a firefighter in South Africa and in particular I think of the families of firefighters and other emergency workers who died while trying to save those trapped and injured.
God Bless.

Yes I think it should. It should be remembered as the day that fascist elements within our own government attempted to undermine democracy and use it as a means to undertake a crime through illegal wars.
God Bless America - Let's all try and return the constitution to greatness it once was and prosecute the criminals in government who have undermined it.

Definitely! In fact it should be a listed as a National Holiday...flags should be flown half-mast, & as a day of silent reflection & prayer for the victims & their families.
