Whats the fastest cd burner currently available on the market at this time? how much does it cost and where can I get it? I have a spare tray in my CPU and I need to fill it with a better one than the one I have. My burner burns at 40x for music, thats what I'm more concerned with.

I think it 52x but I think you should look for a cd burner with a good buffer underrun. I think if you burn a slower speed, you are more like to get less buffer underrun errors or other errors.
You better off with the on you have right now. Why fix it, when it ent broken?
If you want to put some in your spare slot you could invest in a dvd burner.

Sony's flagship combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive is the venerable CRX320E family. Burning performance is reliable thanks to powerful buffer underrun protection. Standard EIDE/ATAPI interface drive is an ideal fit in small PC chassis thanks to its shorter length, about 1" shorter than other combo drives. Various models are available with different colored bezels.
