Humanity on a simple level means "being human". But I also think the word "humanity" has a positive spin, implying our ability to empathize and feel compassion for one another, and then acting in such a way to improve another human's life.
I think people are unique genetically because humans must be diverse to survive (theory of evolution, etc). The number one thing I've learned from living in different places is that everyone is pretty much the same everywhere...in other words, the same types of people are everywhere...whether it be a rural area, a big city, another country...and we're all not that unique, but because we can't really read each other's minds, we all think that our pain is not understandible to the next human, though it's the same...okay I don't want to put anyone to sleep here...but good luck on your survey! You should get some interesting answers!

RE:
What does "humanity" mean to you?
I'm trying to get input (survey) on how people view humanity. Like, what does the word "humanity" mean to you?
Also, do think that a part of being human is being unique? if so, why? if not, why not?
real answer will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you and have a nice day!! ;)

To me, its caring whether a total stranger is lost in there own grief or pain, not just caring for those that love you, that's so easy, to take the time and effort to help,if its a person in distress, being hungrey, cold or fear, we need to help, and yes even put a stop to mistreatment of animals, any living thing with a beating heart and that feels pain

The state of being a member of the human species. It has nothing to do with morality, contrary to popular belief. In his pride, man has made himself synonymous with morality.
