My girlfriend...soulmate... she is very dear to me. And she needs help. She is abused by her parents, emotionally and sometimes physically. She is alone a lot of the time... I can't be there with her because we are five hours apart, in different states... so I'm going to make up for the fact that I can't be there with her by doing my hardest to get her help.

The way she is treated is a crime, and I want to put a stop to it. Please, any information about helping abused teenagers would be helpful... any organizations, or information about emancipation, anything that can help... please, I'm desperate to help her...

She has been cutting herself to relieve the stress, and I'm very worried... she can't go to her parents, they don't care.

For reference, she lives in Ohio, she's 15, she has a sister over 18, and I am 17....

Any links to any websites with information would be appreciated.... Please...

It there is abuse involved, she needs to tell someone...a teacher, the police, an adult. And she needs to get help for her self-destructive behavior. There's not much that you can do from 5 hours away except encourage her to get help and support her when she does.

She can walk into any police station and tell them she's just been beaten, if she has the injuries to show them they are mandated to act accordingly.

If it is mainly emotional but she's now a cutter because of it, she can tell anyone at school, they are all mandated reporters by state law, and have to notify law enforcement and social services. Tell her to pick her favorite teacher and go with that teacher to the principal or school nurse and they will put it into motion to help her. You can call her school and tell them, too, that will start the ball rolling, if they call her in and see wounds from being a cutter they'll do the rest. Good luck, you're a good guy to try and help her. Suz

She needs to speak up! Thats most important. She also needs support. The best thing to do is when you are with her and she is ready to take a stand she can contact the police and whats known as CPS or child protective servies. Do they leave marks??? If they do TAKE PICTURES! Pictures are worth a thousand words. Her cutting her self is seriouse *depending on the cuts* all cuts are bad but you your self can see if she is cutting deep or just surface scratches. YOUR PHONE BOOK WILL HAVE THE BEST NUMBERS!!!! The thing is that is going to scare her in to not speaking is having no place to go. See how your parnets feel about her and take resposiblitiy for her. I went though some rough **** growing up and can understant alot of her stress. and ****.. Main thing is there are people who can and she needs to know that. IF there is anymore I can do to help or if ya need better links or information. I will help to my best. you can email me at strawberrypudding84@yahoo
Good luck

I feel for you. I would start with the phone and call the local department of social services and ask them all sorts of open questions. When you get your answers, call the services in Ohio and you will be armed with good information. Let them know the facts. Maybe she can become the ward of her sister or an aunt or good relative. Go through all of the legal stuff before you jump into the illegal stuff.

I don't know any groups, but you could have her call the CRISIS CENTER, why don't you drive down and pick her up to stay with you? Or beat the**** out of her daddy. And last of all, call the cops? Sorry I can't help more
