Most of the things I can think of are pretty obvious ones, but I'll give them to you anyway, as I'm not really sure what you do and don't know.

1. Make sure you always keep it in its case when you're not playing it so it doesn't get damaged.
2. Always store it in the same place. If the temperature or humidity changes too much the violin will go out of tune much more easily, and the wood can even crack or warp.
3. Never touch your bow hairs. The oil from your fingers won't allow the hairs to work properly.
4. Always loosen your bow after playing. If you keep it tight, the hairs will stretch out, which isn't a good thing either.
5. Keep an old dish rag in the case to dust off the strings after you play. This helps to keep the rosin from building up on the strings. (Dusting it off underneath the string helps too, as sometimes rosin can build up there as well.)

Those are all the basic ones I can think of for now. Hope I could help!

buy some decent rosine, keep your fingers off the bow hairs and the lower part of the strings near the bridge as the natural oils on them will effect the sound and use a dust cloth to wipe away any dust or rosine that falls on the body of the instrument. Also polish once or twice a month to keep it looking nice :)
