Don't do it. Other than rinsing in water and drying with a clean, soft cloth, DON'T DO ANYTHING! You will damage the value of the coin. Leave tarnish, patina, etc., EXACTLY AS IS. I can't stress this enough.

Like everyone else said, DO NOT clean it.
BUT if you do decide you want to clean another coin (say, a penny you flatten on railroad tracks) just soak it in Coke for a while and the dirt/tarnish will vanish!

DO NOT CLEAN IT!!!!!
Coin collectors do NOT want coins clean. In fact you will devalue it.
Just sell it as is. You will gain more that way. If you clean it you WILL lose value.
Never clean coins for collectors!!
And if you don't beleive me, call you local coin dealer. They will tell you the same thing.
Hope that helps!

If you have no desires to sell it, then
you shold soak it in a warm water adding 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and olive oil to it.
this will clean it and give it a shiny surface.
But, if you have desires to sell it, you should not clean it as it would loose it's value.
